Today, Assemblyman Ed Flood (R,C-Port Jefferson) and Assemblyman Doug Smith (R,C-Holbrook) attended the Bicycle Path Pre-K/Kindergarten Middle Country School District playground ribbon-cutting ceremony. Flood and Smith awarded the Pre-K/Kindergarten center a $40,000 grant to help alleviate the financial costs of the new playground.
"Watching the smiles and cheering as the children saw their new playground today was one of the greatest experiences since I’ve taken office," said Flood. "It was my honor to attend the ribbon cutting today with my colleague, Assemblyman Doug Smith. The new playground will be a fundamental aspect of their joy and growth. As Principal Conterino said, play is essential to learning at this age."
"It was fantastic to join with the Middle Country community and help in the building and dedication of this new playground. As a parent and educator, I am highly supportive of play as a fundamental part of the learning process and I’m grateful that the Middle Country School District shares our feelings. It was so wonderful to see the children being active on their new playground, and I hope that it will be enjoyed for years to come," said Smith.
