The Hispanic Heritage Group at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory will host a celebration of Hispanic culture featuring music and dance performances on Friday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. in Berkner Hall (Bldg. 488) on the Lab site. The event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required.

The event will feature Sol y Sombra Spanish Dance Company presenting "El Ritmo," a concert that includes Argentine tango, Latin, salsa, flamenco, and Spanish dance.

Sol y Sombra, established more than 35 years ago under the artistic direction of founder Maria Loreta, promotes Latin music and dance. The company has performed globally.

The event will also showcase acclaimed artists Celia Maldonado and David Salinas for their mastery of Latin rhythms and contemporary dance, alongside Carolina Jaurena and Andres Bravo, renowned tango performers and instructors.

For more information, contact Racquel Lovelace at 631-344-3407.

This performance is supported by grants from the Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs, a New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) Creative Communities Grant, and the Lab’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office.

The Laboratory is located on William Floyd Parkway (County Road 46), one and a half miles north of Exit 68 of the Long Island Expressway.
