The Graduate School and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Stony Brook University will celebrate National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) 2024. This annual event aims to recognize the contributions that postdocs make to the university and the broader research community. The Stony Brook community is invited to participate in a series of events designed to foster connection, promote wellness, and highlight the role of postdocs in advancing knowledge and innovation.

Postdoctoral scholars, or “postdocs,” are individuals engaged in a period of mentored training following the completion of their terminal degrees. These scholars are essential contributors to the university’s research endeavors, particularly in the life and biomedical sciences. Nationwide, there are approximately 72,000 postdocs, with most working in academic research.

In celebrating NPAW 2024, Stony Brook University acknowledges and appreciates the dedication and hard work of its postdocs. Their efforts advance knowledge frontiers and contribute significantly to the growth and success of the university.

The NPAW 2024 schedule includes various events from September 16 to September 20:

- Tabling: Engage with fellow postdocs for a chance to win prizes while learning about resources and opportunities at Stony Brook University.

- Postdoc Wellness Workshop – RSVP required.

- Postdoc Appreciation Social – RSVP required: Network and celebrate with peers.
