On Saturday, September 14 at 1 pm, the William Floyd varsity Colonials will face the Longwood Lions in the annual Parkway Power Bowl. This marks the 13th Power Bowl matchup between these rivals as they compete for bragging rights during the opening game of the fall 2024 season. The Colonials currently lead the Parkway Power Bowl series with a record of 10-2, including a 21-0 victory last year.

The Parkway Power Bowl is an annual contest that pits these two rivals against each other in a key divisional game while promoting sportsmanship, goodwill, community relations, and healthy competition. Named after the William Floyd Parkway—the thoroughfare connecting both school districts and served by the Suffolk County Police Department—the winner receives a plaque with the final score engraved on it. This trophy, donated by the William Floyd Alumni Association, is housed at the winning school until next year’s game. Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department present the trophy to the winner in a post-game ceremony.

The Colonials are led by head coach Paul Longo, now in his 30th season. They won their 14th Suffolk County Championship last season and aim to build on that success this year.

For those unable to attend Parkway Power Bowl XIII in person, a livestream will be available on YouTube. Orlin & Cohen presents the National Football Foundation’s Kickoff Class brought to you by T & D Sports Video Production.
