David Trent, a 19-year-old from Mastic Beach, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges including manslaughter, robbery, and conspiracy to commit murder. This follows a long-term investigation into the criminal street organization known as "No Fake Love" or "NFL." Trent was one of 18 defendants indicted in December 2022.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney stated, “This is the reason why I started the Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau on my first day in office. Violence like this will not be tolerated in Suffolk County.” He added, “This case should serve as a warning to those gang members who would seek to establish dominance by committing acts of violence in Suffolk County: we will find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”

Court documents reveal that on December 5, 2021, Trent and his associates were involved in an altercation outside Minx Nightclub in Farmingville. The confrontation escalated when Trent retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot Jorge Mauricio Sevilla Barrera. After Barrera fell to the ground, Trent and another individual kicked him before Trent shot him again, resulting in Barrera's death. Two other individuals were injured during the incident.

On April 13, 2022, Trent participated in an armed robbery involving a Lyft driver in Wading River. Along with co-conspirators Shati Roy Jr. and Corey Foggy, they assaulted the driver and stole his vehicle. The incident was captured on a dashboard camera which was later recovered by investigators.

Trent pleaded guilty on September 30, 2024, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft Jr., to several charges including Manslaughter in the First Degree and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree among others.

Trent is scheduled for sentencing on October 30, 2024, where he is expected to receive a sentence of 28 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision. His defense attorney is Christopher Gioe.

The prosecution team includes Assistant District Attorneys Martha Duffy and Donald Barclay from the Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau. The investigation was led by District Attorney Investigator Jean Graf from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Gang Task Force.
