Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney has announced the indictment of Jeremy Allen, a 43-year-old resident of East Quogue, on charges including first-degree murder for the alleged torture and killing of Christopher Hahn, also 43.
"The alleged actions of this defendant were vicious, brutal, and senseless," stated District Attorney Tierney. "We will do everything in our power to seek justice for Christopher Hahn."
The investigation revealed that on September 27, 2024, Allen and Hahn spent an evening at a bar before returning to Allen's home on Oakville Avenue. Surveillance footage reportedly captured sounds of a beating inflicted on Hahn by Allen shortly after midnight. Following the attack, Allen allegedly dragged Hahn onto his rear deck where he was left severely injured. Later footage purportedly shows Allen striking Hahn with a baseball bat and then placing a plastic bag over his head.
Allen is accused of stabbing Hahn in the neck ten times with a large knife as he watched him take his last breaths. Afterward, Allen contacted his handyman to clean the house. The handyman discovered blood throughout the residence and found Hahn's body covered with a blanket on the back deck. He fled after convincing Allen to let him leave and alerted authorities.
Allen was arrested at his home soon after these events unfolded. On October 10, 2024, he was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei on charges including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and tampering with physical evidence.
Justice Mazzei ordered that Allen be held without bail pending trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 14, 2024. If convicted on the most serious charge, Allen faces life imprisonment. He is represented by attorney Colin Astarita.
Assistant District Attorney Elena Tomaro from the Homicide Bureau is prosecuting the case with Detective Michael Ronca from Suffolk County Police Department's Homicide Squad leading the investigation.
