Suffolk County authorities have announced the indictment of Remon Gibson, a 43-year-old resident of Bellport, on charges of operating as a major trafficker and other related offenses. This follows what officials describe as the largest fentanyl seizure in Suffolk history. Law enforcement reportedly discovered 33 pounds of illegal narcotics at Gibson's residence, including approximately 7 kilograms of fentanyl and 8 kilograms of cocaine.

District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, "The amount of deadly narcotics seized in this operation is staggering. There was enough Fentanyl here to kill every man, woman, and child on Long Island." He emphasized the commitment to dismantling drug operations that pose threats to communities.

DEA New York Division Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino echoed these sentiments, saying, "The arrest and indictment of Reman Gibson shows the commitment the DEA and our law enforcement partners have in targeting those individuals who are poisoning our communities."

The investigation revealed that on September 25, 2024, a search warrant was executed at Gibson's home by members of various law enforcement agencies. The search allegedly resulted in the discovery of fentanyl, cocaine in brick form, xylazine, drug paraphernalia, $80,000 in cash, a drug ledger, and kilo presses marked with "COVID 19."

Significantly, fentanyl was reportedly found on a nightstand in Gibson's bedroom near his two minor children's room. Cocaine was also allegedly hidden behind a backyard shed.

Gibson was arraigned on October 9 before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro on multiple charges including operating as a major trafficker and criminal possession of controlled substances. He faces potential sentences ranging from 15 years to life if convicted on the top charge. His bail has been set at $200,000 cash or higher bond amounts.

Assistant District Attorney Saam Jalayer is prosecuting the case with Detective Damian Torres leading the investigation for the District Attorney’s Office Fentanyl Task Force.

Criminal complaints and indictments are considered accusatory instruments until proven otherwise.
