Students at William Floyd High School are preparing for their upcoming fall production of "Kodachrome," written by Adam Szymkowicz. The play will be performed on November 1 and 2 at 6:30 pm in the Nick Poulos Auditorium. Tickets are priced at $10 and can be purchased online or at the door.

The story, inspired by Thornton Wilder’s "Our Town," is set in Colchester, Connecticut, where the town photographer Suzanne introduces audiences to various residents as their relationships evolve. This marks the first full-length play produced by the high school in several years.

Director Berkeley Rousseau expressed enthusiasm for the script, stating, “I picked up this script at a bookstore on a whim and immediately fell in love upon reading it.” He noted that students have embraced their roles, creating moments that evoke laughter and reflection.

This year, the theater program has expanded to include student-led directing. Rousseau emphasized the importance of creative roles beyond acting: “In building the theater program, I want to see students step into creative team roles.”

Ashlyn Manion and Michael Pedra serve as assistant directors while also performing on stage. They have gained experience in production management and character development.

The cast features Janelly Bednarek as the Photographer, Kaelyn Green as the Gravedigger, Michael Pedra as the Hardware Store Owner, among others. The production is led by Dr. Amy Sckipp with additional contributions from Erika Licausi (costume designer), Michelle Seifert (scenic designer), and Meghan Jones (props designer).

"Mark your calendars for November 1-2! You don’t want to miss it!" encourages a promotional message.
