Joshua Oltchick, a 26-year-old resident of West Babylon, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following charges related to firearms and narcotics possession. The announcement was made by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.
"Every fentanyl pill that this armed prior felon intended to sell in Suffolk County is a potential fatal overdose and, thankfully, our Suffolk County police officers interrupted his crimes with good police work," said District Attorney Tierney. "This ten-year sentence should send the message that we will not tolerate those who sell poison in Suffolk County."
Court documents reveal that on September 16, 2023, Suffolk County Police responded to reports of a male slumped over behind the wheel at the corner of 7th Avenue and 15th Street in West Babylon. Upon arrival, officers found Oltchick's vehicle parked facing the wrong direction with its engine running. Officers discovered a loaded Beretta USA Corp. .380 auto caliber semiautomatic pistol between his legs on the driver’s seat.
A search of the vehicle uncovered over 2,700 pressed fentanyl pills weighing 8.25 ounces, along with quantities of cocaine and amphetamine packaged for street sales. Additionally, drug packaging materials, dilutants for extending narcotics supply, two digital scales, two cell phones, and $3,319 in cash were found.
Oltchick pleaded guilty on October 2, 2024 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Steven Pilewski to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree and Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
The sentencing took place on November 4, 2024. Alongside his prison term, Oltchick will face five years of post-release supervision. He was represented by David Adhami Esq.
Oltchick also has a prior conviction from 2022 for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.
