At the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Distinguished Administrator Awards recognize significant contributions in administrative support. The 2024 awardees are Cindi Biancarosa and Lynanne DiFilippo.

Cindi Biancarosa has been integral to the Office of Educational Programs (OEP) at Brookhaven Lab for over two decades. She has engaged more than 100,000 elementary students and numerous high school and college interns, enhancing their experiences. Her leadership improved OEP's processes by transitioning from paper-based to electronic student appointments. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led virtual internships and facilitated a return to on-site programs. Additionally, her efforts in securing direct deposit for student stipends streamlined operations.

Biancarosa's influence extends beyond OEP through her work with the "Cut the Red Tape" committee and improvements to account management systems at Brookhaven Science Associates. Her dedication makes her a deserving recipient of this award.

Lynanne DiFilippo has served at Brookhaven Lab for over 40 years, excelling as an administrative leader in the Collider-Accelerator Department (C-AD). Her experience spans managing finances during key projects like the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and transitioning functions for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC).

During the pandemic, DiFilippo implemented electronic time reporting and document sharing systems while maintaining critical signatures remotely. She also redesigned C-AD’s web presence and internal SharePoint site, improving efficiency.

As a mentor to a seven-member team, she encouraged staff roles in new projects like EIC. Her organizational skills and collaboration fostered improvements across departments.

Both Biancarosa and DiFilippo exemplify administrative excellence at Brookhaven Lab.
