Annual Messiah sing-along returns to Staller Center on December 8

Members of the University Orchestra, vocal soloists, and conductors are set to perform Handel’s Messiah at Stony Brook on Sunday, December 8. The event will take place at 3 pm in the Recital Hall at Staller Center. Prior to the main performance, a short preconcert is scheduled for 2:45 pm. This preconcert will feature the University Orchestra’s Brass and Percussion Ensemble alongside a chamber orchestra performing works by Telemann and Peter Warlock.

The performance is open to the public without charge. Audience members will have the opportunity to join in singing choruses from Part One, "Worthy is the Lamb/Amen," and the "Hallelujah Chorus." Vocal scores can be purchased for $10 cash at the door.

Soloists for this event include undergraduate, graduate, and DMA students Jeanai La Vita (soprano), Mheco Manlangit (soprano), Michaela Larsen (mezzo-soprano), Dylan Turicek (tenor), with special guest vocalist Christopher Judge (baritone). Conducting duties will be shared among Susan Deaver, Randall Keith Horton, Jeanai La Vita, Alicja Paruch, Hanbo Wang, and Shiqi Yang. Fjord Deda will perform as the solo trumpet in “the trumpet shall sound.”
