Suffolk County Community College has entered into partnerships with Binghamton University and St. George’s University to facilitate the transfer of its graduates into medical, veterinary, and pharmacy doctoral programs. These collaborations aim to provide students with clear pathways to healthcare degrees.

The announcement was made at an event on Suffolk's Michael J. Grant Campus, attended by academic leaders, students, faculty, and local officials.

Dr. Edward Bonahue, President of Suffolk County Community College, highlighted the significance of these partnerships: "These partnerships represent a significant step forward in providing our students with exceptional opportunities in healthcare. By offering pathways to advanced degrees in medicine, veterinary medicine, and pharmacy, we are helping to build a pipeline of highly trained professionals who will serve not only Suffolk County but the broader healthcare needs of our region. We are proud to work alongside St. George’s University and Binghamton University to make these dreams a reality for our students."

In collaboration with Binghamton University, up to five seats per year are reserved for qualified Suffolk students entering the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Maja Szostak from Binghamton University stated that this initiative provides a clear pathway for aspiring pharmacists.

St. George’s University offers two pathways for Suffolk students pursuing careers in medicine or veterinary medicine. Laura Bruno from SGU emphasized the need for alternative pathways due to limited seats in U.S. medical schools: “As we navigate through the complexities of healthcare in the 21st century, the demand for compassionate, skilled, and dedicated physicians has never been greater.”

Suffolk County Community College is part of the State University of New York system and enrolls over 21,000 students across more than 100 programs.

Binghamton University's School of Pharmacy focuses on evidence-based pharmaceutical care and research.

St. George's University draws international students to Grenada for its diverse educational programs.
