Stony Brook Southampton is set to host its annual Windmill Lighting and Holiday Gathering on Thursday, December 5, from 6-8 pm. The event is open to the public, offering an opportunity for attendees to partake in holiday festivities.
The program will include the lighting of the iconic windmill, followed by a reception at the Stony Brook Southampton Library where seasonal refreshments will be served. The event is free and aims to spread holiday cheer among community members.
In addition to the windmill lighting, family-friendly activities are planned. These include a photobooth sponsored by the Alumni Association, a crafts table for children, face painting, an appearance by Wolfie, and musical performances by members of the Stony Brook University orchestra.
The windmill itself is a significant landmark and historical icon that has been situated on its current campus site in Shinnecock Hills since 1888.
