Stony Brook University's Department of Computer Science is participating in a significant research initiative to enhance vaccine development using artificial intelligence. Professor Haibin Ling will lead the university's efforts in an $11 million project funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).
The initiative, titled SPHERICAL (Scientific Platform for High Efficacy Antigen Design via Robust Integration of Computational Experiments, AI, and Protein Modeling), seeks to innovate the process of vaccine creation through an AI-driven platform focused on antigen design.
"This collaboration represents a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge AI techniques to one of healthcare’s most critical challenges," says Ling. "By developing innovative deep learning solutions, we’re working to make vaccine development more efficient and effective, potentially saving countless lives."
