On Wednesday, August 19th, the community of Smithtown came together to honor Firefighter and Paramedic James Shellock. Family and friends gathered to pay their final respects through a series of services and a procession. The events included a funeral mass at St. Patrick's Church, followed by a procession that passed significant locations such as the family home, Engine Co. 4's station on Plaisted Avenue, and the Main Firehouse on Elm Avenue. At the Main House, an arch was raised as James Shellock was brought past the firehouse for one last time.

The Chiefs, Officers, and Members expressed gratitude towards the Smithtown community for their patience during this period of mourning. They acknowledged that several road closures and detours were necessary to provide a fitting tribute to someone who had given so much to both his colleagues and the community. "We thank you," they stated in appreciation.
