Supervisor Dan Panico and Councilwoman Jane Bonner joined the celebration of Josie Romano's 100th birthday at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai. Josie, a resident of Rocky Point, was born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx. She entertained audiences nationwide with her marionette puppets during her younger years. Remarkably, at 95, she was still teaching line dancing, including classes at the Town’s Rose Caracappa Senior Center.

When asked about her secret to longevity, Josie shared, “I love to eat, and once in a while a little drink when I feel good. That’s about it and I love to dance.” Currently employed at St. Anthony’s Thrift Shop in Rocky Point, Josie has three daughters, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
