Representatives Nick LaLota (R-NY) and Chris Deluzio (D-PA), both Navy veterans, have initiated the bipartisan Navy and Marine Corps Caucus in the 119th Congress. The launch event in Washington, D.C., was attended by Members of Congress and senior officials from the Navy and Marine Corps, highlighting a shared commitment to strengthening these military branches.

"As an 11-year Navy veteran and a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, I understand the importance of this caucus in bringing together members from both parties to support our Sailors and Marines," said LaLota. "We are committed to ensuring they have the necessary resources, policies, and leadership to deter conflicts and, if absolutely necessary, to fight America’s adversaries and return home safely."

LaLota emphasized addressing key issues such as readiness, shipbuilding, housing, and healthcare. He added that bipartisan support for the caucus sends a powerful message about maintaining the Navy and Marine Corps as capable fighting forces.

Rep. Deluzio shared his perspective: "In the Navy, I learned a simple lesson: Ship, Shipmate, Self. You put the mission first; you put others before yourself." He expressed enthusiasm for launching the bipartisan Congressional Navy and Marine Corps Caucus.

The event featured opening remarks from Representative LaLota followed by speeches from Vice Chief of Naval Operations Admiral James Kilby and Lieutenant General Eric Austin of the Marine Corps. Representative Deluzio concluded with closing remarks. Other Congressional attendees included Representatives Jack Bergman (R-MI), Salud Carbajal (D-CA), Gil Cisneros (D-CA), Jake Ellzey (R-TX), Tony Gonzales (R-TX), Jennifer Kiggans (R-VA), and John McGuire (R-VA).

Admiral Kilby discussed strategic priorities for the Navy and stressed bipartisan support's role in ensuring maritime forces' readiness. Lieutenant General Austin highlighted current needs and modernization plans for the Marine Corps.

The Navy and Marine Corps Caucus provides a platform for Congress members to engage with military leaders, advocate policy initiatives, and support those serving in sea services.
