Tangier Smith Elementary School's fifth-grade students surprised their loved ones with special tributes on Valentine's Day. The event, held at the school, involved classes taught by Mr. DeMasi, Ms. Dunne, Ms. Mason, Mr. Melandro, and Ms. Montalto.

The celebration was organized as a writing event for families and friends, who were unaware that they were the subjects of the students' assignments. Leading up to the day, students wrote about their chosen loved ones, highlighting personal stories and qualities that made these individuals special to them.

During the celebration, each loved one was invited to stand at the front of the classroom while students read their tributes aloud. The emotional readings moved many participants and attendees to tears. After each speech, students exchanged hugs with their loved ones and gave them a framed copy of the tribute as a memento.

This heartfelt initiative allowed students to express gratitude and affection for those significant in their lives.
