Congressman Nick LaLota, elected to represent New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress in 2023, shared updates from his day on Twitter. The tweets highlighted both his legislative actions and unusual experiences during travel.

On April 10, 2025, Congressman LaLota announced that he voted YES on the Budget Resolution after ensuring with Speaker Johnson that the Medicaid reforms included in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" would be compassionate. These reforms involve removing unauthorized immigrants, introducing work requirements for able-bodied adults, and implementing eligibility checks every six months.

Later the same day, LaLota experienced an unexpected event while traveling. He tweeted about an incident on the runway at DCA where another plane bumped into their wing. Thankfully, everyone was safe, and they returned to the gate. The post added a light-hearted mention of Representative Grace Meng handing out grapes to passengers.

Subsequently, he tweeted again stating that they were back on the tarmac with a different plane, assuring followers that the current situation was managed and expressed confidence in ensuring a safe journey.

Nick LaLota, originally from Bay Shore, New York, was born in 1978 and resides in Amityville. His experience in Congress has brought a range of experiences as he continues to serve New York's 1st District following his predecessor, Lee Zeldin.
