William Floyd High School's Medical Club recently visited the School of Health Professions at Stony Brook University. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into academic programs and career options in health-related fields. Terri Randall, a science educator, led the group.

The students were welcomed by Teresa Ann Blaskopf from the Office of the Dean at Stony Brook University's School of Health Technology and Management. During their visit, they explored careers in occupational therapy and EMS/paramedics.

Hands-on activities included a tour of the occupational therapy lab where they learned how to assist patients with physical limitations using specialized tools. In addition, as part of the EMS program, students practiced applying a tourniquet and used equipment for cardiac emergencies.

Ms. Blaskopf offered information on various programs available at Stony Brook University and answered student questions throughout the visit.

The William Floyd High School Medical Club expressed gratitude to Dr. Dale Coffin, Rudolph Princi Jr., and James Deutsch from Stony Brook University for their contributions during this educational experience.
