Stony Brook University marked Employee Appreciation Day on March 7 at the Charles B. Wang Center, with over 800 employees attending. The event included breakfast, giveaways, information tables, raffle drawings, and a tribute to staff dedication.
Interim President Richard L. McCormick expressed gratitude towards the employees: “Whether it’s through your commitment to uplifting the university’s reputation as a flagship institution, your investment in the health and well-being of our communities, or your innovation in research and teaching, you help Stony Brook make a difference,” he stated.
Jennifer Donnelly, interim vice president of Human Resource Services, emphasized the importance of employees in an email invitation: “This is our opportunity to celebrate YOU and acknowledge the vital role you play in shaping the positive and impactful environment at Stony Brook.”
The event also featured a Wellness Space with teas and aromatherapy body scrubs. Employees were encouraged to participate in BeHeard, a voluntary survey launching on March 24. Donnelly noted: “Your input will help drive positive change.”
Throughout the day, various tables provided resources on benefits and professional development. The Culture and Engagement table highlighted new programs like the Employee Service Pin Program.
