SUNY Mascot Madness tournament | Stony Brook University
Wolfie, the mascot for Stony Brook University, has advanced to the second round of the SUNY Mascot Madness tournament. In the first round, Wolfie secured a victory against Perseus the Panther from Purchase College and Jamestown Community College's duo, JJ the Jayhawk and Jax the Jaguar, with nearly 63 percent of the vote.
In this next round, Wolfie will face Privateer Pete from Maritime College. The competition, which began in 2013, is an annual event that determines New York's favorite SUNY mascot through fan votes. It draws inspiration from the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament.
Wolfie is no stranger to success in this competition, having won championships in both 2022 and 2023 by defeating Oakie the Acorn from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in each final.
Fans are encouraged to support Wolfie by using #wolfie and #MascotMadness on social media platforms. Voting is available on the SUNY Mascot Madness website during each round. Additionally, starting in Round 2, social voting will expand to include SUNY’s Instagram Story. These votes will carry double weight and can be cast for a period of 24 hours.
