Annual Giving Day | Stony Brook University
Annual Giving Day | Stony Brook University
Stony Brook University is set to host its seventh annual Giving Day on March 26. The event aims to harness support for the university's initiatives over a 24-hour period, encouraging contributions that will help transform students into leaders and put ideas into action.
Scott Barrett, interim vice president for advancement, expressed enthusiasm about the event: “Giving Day is an exciting opportunity for the Stony Brook community to step forward and support the university in a big way. Every year, I am inspired by our community’s engagement, not just by their generous philanthropic contributions but also by the motivation behind their philanthropy.” He added, “It’s remarkable to see how many people are driven by the positive impact they can make for our current students and faculty — and, frankly, for generations to come. I look forward to celebrating that impact again this year.”
In the previous year, more than $1 million was raised through over 3,800 gifts impacting various areas of campus life. Contributions supported fields such as arts, athletics, medicine, and research. This year's Giving Day aims to continue providing resources that allow Seawolves to excel in student experiences, impactful research, healthier communities, arts enrichment, and climate progress.
The event will be tracked live on Stony Brook’s Giving Day website. Certain challenges during the day will enable some donations to have an amplified effect.
