Moriches Elementary School recently concluded its annual W.A.R.M. Week, an event dedicated to promoting reading and literacy among students. The acronym stands for "We Are Reading More." This year’s theme, “Reading Through the U.S.A.,” inspired various activities during the week including thematic dress-up days, mystery riddles, and special guest readers to foster student engagement.

The highlight of the week was Literacy Night, which witnessed the participation of over 200 families. Those attending enjoyed teacher-led read-alouds, raffles, and a live performance by the school's faculty band. Attendees received free books and refreshments.

Participants were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items at the event entrance. Donations were rewarded with raffle tickets that provided the chance to win a book basket. All collected food was donated to the local food pantry to support community members in need.

The event was reported to be a success, bringing together faculty, students, and the community to celebrate reading and literacy.
