Congressman Nick LaLota, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York's 1st District, has shared several updates and legislative actions via social media. As a representative since 2023, following Lee Zeldin, LaLota, 44, was born in Bay Shore, New York, in 1978, and now resides in Amityville.
On April 9th, LaLota tweeted about actions under President Trump, stating that "On Day One, President Trump labeled Tren de Aragua a terrorist org—empowering ICE to act. 68 gang members arrested in just one week. This is real progress. I’ll keep fighting for a safer Suffolk County."
Later that day, LaLota expressed his support for specific resolutions, posting that he "Voted YES on S.J.Res.18 & S.J.Res.28 to curb CFPB overreach, protecting financial tools for hardworking Americans." The congressman noted that these resolutions aim to safeguard overdraft programs, support fintech growth, expand banking choices, and prevent new financial burdens, particularly for Long Islanders.
On April 10th, he reported his vote on a new legislative proposal, writing, "I voted for Rep. Issa's 'No Rogue Rulings Act' to stop single judges from blocking a President’s national security decisions. This bill protects the balance of power and keeps national security in the hands of elected leaders."
