Seven William Floyd High School students participated in Stony Brook University’s inaugural “A Taste of the Trades” program this past summer. The initiative provided hands-on learning experiences aimed at preparing students for careers in construction, clean-energy production, and infrastructure development while introducing them to job opportunities supporting sustainability.

Twin sisters named among top Long Island tennis players by Newsday
Lydia Van Cott and Anabel Van Cott have been named among the top 30 girls' tennis players by Newsday for the fall 2024 season. Newsday's annual review of the top singles and doubles players in Long Island high school tennis included the two William Floyd sophomores.

WFHS student accepted into prestigious Juilliard Pre-College program
Jackson Seifert, a junior at William Floyd High School, has been accepted into the Juilliard Pre-College program. This program is designed for students with the talent and ambition to pursue serious music study at the college level. Jackson, who primarily plays bass and tenor trombone, is also proficient on the trumpet, bass trumpet, and euphonium.

Three student-athletes from William Floyd High School have been named among the top 100 football players for the fall season by Newsday. Seniors Geo Alvarez, Derek Amato, and Aaron Fisher are recognized as standout performers, looking to make their senior season noteworthy.

NYS Chaplain Task Force and Represent Church donate backpacks to students
The New York State Chaplain Task Force, in coordination with Represent Church, donated approximately 100 backpacks filled with supplies to students at the William Floyd Learning Center. Leaders from both organizations recently met at the school to make the donation.

On Monday, August 26, William Floyd High School celebrated 30 seniors who became the newest alumni as members of the Class of 2024. Graduates gathered in the high school auditorium with family, friends, faculty, staff, administration, and members of the Board of Education to mark this milestone achievement.
