In terms of hospitalizations, the data for the week ending March 30, 2024, showed that there were 94 new hospital admissions of confirmed COVID-19 patients in Suffolk County. The percentage change of hospital admissions from the prior week was -11.3%, with a rate of 3.3 hospital admissions per 100k in the past week, indicating a low level of COVID-19 hospital admissions.
On April 9, 2024, Suffolk County reported that 37 individuals were hospitalized, with 76% of them being hospitalized due to COVID-19 or complications of COVID-19. There were 7 new admissions and 6 discharges since the last report, with 8 patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
The report also mentioned that hospitals in Suffolk County are no longer reporting data to NYSDOH on weekends or holidays.
In terms of fatalities, as of April 9, 2024, there have been a total of 5,275 fatalities in Suffolk County since March 2020, with an increase of 1 since the last report. The annual breakdown of fatalities is as follows: 2020 - 2,311, 2021 - 1,507, 2022 - 1,015, 2023 - 318, and 2024 - 129 to date.
Regarding COVID-19 testing, on April 7, 2024, there were 40 new first-time cases reported, with a rate of 2.6 cases per 100k and an average of 3.4 cases on a 7-day average, including reported PCR and antigen tests.
