Senator Mario R. Mattera (2nd Senate District) has announced Terri Alessi-Miceli of Smithtown as his 2024 Woman of Distinction. This award acknowledges her contributions to the local business community and her impact on Long Island’s economic development.
Terri Alessi-Miceli is the President and CEO of HIA-LI, where she has been a significant voice for Long Island businesses. Her leadership has supported the growth and success of numerous regional businesses. Under her guidance, HIA-LI has addressed critical issues such as transportation, workforce development, and affordable living. The organization advocates for the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, which sustains over 55,000 jobs and houses more than 1,300 companies.
"Terri’s dedication to our community and her relentless pursuit of excellence and service embody the spirit of the Woman of Distinction Award. We are proud to honor her as an exemplary leader in our community. Thank you Terri and all in the HIA-LI for all you do for our business community and the residents of the region," said Senator Mattera.
In addition to her role at HIA-LI, Ms. Alessi-Miceli serves on the board of Discover Long Island and has been involved with the Long Island Regional Planning Council and Suffolk County Girl Scout Council. Her expertise has been featured in Newsday, Networking Magazine, Smithtown News, Long Island Business News, and on News 12’s “Jobline.”
Her humanitarian efforts include receiving the Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award for contributions to Long Island Cares and involvement with Dress for Success program training women in interviewing skills.
Ms. Alessi-Miceli’s accolades include induction into Long Island Business News’ Hall of Fame as one of the Top 50 Women Professionals on Long Island, LIBN Top CEO Award, inclusion on the 2022 “Power List,” recognition by Long Island Press, and City & State Magazine.
Beyond professional achievements, Ms. Alessi-Miceli volunteers as a religion school teacher and with Big Brother/Big Sister. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Adelphi University.
She resides in Smithtown with her husband Joe and their son Nicholas.
This recognition highlights her professional leadership and underscores an individual's impact on Long Island's economic and social fabric.
