Building enthusiasts of all ages gathered at Stony Brook University on September 28 for the institution's first-ever LEGO® competition, part of CommUniversity Day. Participants showcased their unique LEGO® creations that reflected their vision of community.

The panel of judges included Bill Wertheim, executive vice president for Stony Brook Medicine; Carl Lejuez, provost; Carol Gomes, chief executive officer and chief operating officer at Stony Brook University Hospital; David Wrobel, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; New York State Senator Anthony H. Palumbo; Assemblyman Ed Flood; Council Member Jonathan Kornreich; Mayor of Port Jefferson Lauren Sheprow; Port Jefferson Village Trustee Zena Ugrinsky; and Rachel Joffee, owner of Bricks and MiniFigs of West Babylon. Joffee also donated prizes and advised on competition criteria.

Each entry was judged based on creativity, originality, and how well it represented the theme.
