Nearly 200 students from William Floyd High School's Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs visited Citi Field last month. The event, sponsored by the Haugland Group and presented by Sports Power Clean Energy, aimed to provide insights into clean energy careers. Students participated in a session with Sports Power, learning about offshore wind turbines and home energy efficiency simulations, promoting workforce development in clean energy and technology fields.

The visit included a behind-the-scenes tour of Citi Field, where students explored the media area, observed batting practice up close, and learned about the history of the stadium and the New York Mets. A highlight of the day was an "In Game Sports Power Clean Energy Photo Scavenger Hunt."

William Floyd CTE program received special recognition on the Citi Field jumbotron and during a live Mets broadcast. Participants were given $25 vouchers for concessions or memorabilia before watching the Mets secure a 10-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. One student caught a foul ball hit by MLB star Bryce Harper.

The William Floyd High School CTE program offers various academies in interest areas like Automotive, Culinary Arts, Medical Assisting, and more. It aims to prepare students for career readiness through pathways including Accounting and Engineering.
