Eleven faculty members at Stony Brook University will be formally installed in endowed positions during a ceremony on Friday, October 25. The event will take place at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater as part of Homecoming Weekend. This occasion aims to honor faculty who exemplify academic and research excellence.

Interim President Richard McCormick highlighted the significance of this program in his announcement to the SBU community: “This program also pays tribute to our extraordinary donors whose generosity supports these eminent scholars and enables Stony Brook to continually advance its rich, groundbreaking intellectual community.”

Esther S. Takeuchi, PhD, the William and Jane Knapp Endowed Chair in Energy and the Environment and a SUNY Distinguished Professor, will deliver the keynote address. Her research focuses on battery chemistry and technology with an aim to develop reliable, high-powered, and environmentally friendly energy storage solutions.

Endowed positions are among the highest honors for university faculty members, serving as a testament to the philanthropists who fund them.

The ceremony will conclude with a reception open to all attendees. Registration is available online until October 18.
