Drew Scott named Director of Communications for Brookhaven Town

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico has announced that Drew Scott, a veteran broadcast journalist, will assume the role of Director of Communications on October 14th. Scott, who has spent over 40 years in Long Island news broadcasting, will be tasked with sharing vital information from the Town government to the public and media through various channels including Optimum Channel 18, press releases, special events, and online platforms.

Scott's career includes two decades as an anchor at Newsday TV and News 12. He was also the founding news director of WLNY Channel 55. In addition to his professional experience, Scott studied Communications and taught at the New York Institute of Technology.

His contributions to journalism have been recognized by several prestigious awards. The Press Club of Long Island has inducted him into their "Hall of Fame," and he is a recipient of the Edward R. Murrow award along with multiple Emmy awards.

Supervisor Dan Panico expressed confidence in Scott's abilities: “For decades, Brookhaven Town residents have come to know Drew Scott as a person to inform them on issues of critical importance. Drew’s depth of knowledge, breadth of experience, and solid reputation amongst his peers and the public make him an asset to Brookhaven Town. I am proud to welcome him to my team.”
