On October 18, Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich visited the Sunshine Alternative Education Center (SAEC) in Port Jefferson Station. The visit was aimed at discussing their roles on the Brookhaven Town Council with the students. Dr. Carol Carter, Administrator/Prevention Professional, was also present during the visit.
The SAEC's mission is to create a secure environment that fosters self-esteem and positive social skills among children and families. The center focuses on empowering youth to make healthy choices, preventing substance abuse and violence, and strengthening family and community connections.
