Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended a showcase organized by the Miller Place Homemakers and the North Shore Homemakers at the Coram Fire Department headquarters on October 19. The event was open to the public and featured various homemade craft items, along with opportunities for attendees to exchange crafting ideas.

The homemaker groups are actively involved in community service initiatives. Their charitable efforts include creating Christmas stockings for military personnel stationed overseas, supporting food pantries, assisting individuals with cancer, and helping Suffolk County residents in need.

The Suffolk County Homemakers Council plays a pivotal role as an advisory board for homemaker units within the county. It publishes a newsletter titled "Council Connection," offers scholarships, conducts workshops, hosts guest speakers, and provides craft and cooking classes. The council facilitates meetings among different units across Suffolk County to share ideas and coordinate community service projects.
