Stony Brook Medicine has announced leadership changes within its community medical branches, Stony Brook Community Medical (SBCM) and Meeting House Lane (MHL). These changes will take effect on November 1, 2024.
The shift in leadership follows Dr. William Wertheim’s promotion to Executive Vice President of Health Sciences at Stony Brook Medicine. As part of the restructuring, the roles of President for SBCM and MHL have been combined under one leader. Dr. Konstantinos Spaniolas, currently Chief of the Division of Bariatric, Foregut and Advanced GI Surgery at Stony Brook Medicine, will assume this dual role as President.
Supporting Dr. Spaniolas in his new responsibilities, Dr. Dara Brener has been appointed Medical Director of SBCM, while Dr. Lara DeSanti-Siska will take on the role of Medical Director at MHL. Jennifer Crema will be promoted to Executive Director of both SBAS and MHL.
Dr. John Patrick Reilly, previously President of MHL, is transitioning to become the Director of East End Cardiology Development. In this position, he will focus on advancing cardiac services for Long Island's East End region.
“It is my privilege to work alongside so many dedicated healthcare professionals,” said William A. Wertheim, MD, MBA, Executive Vice President for Stony Brook Medicine. “Their continued efforts in expanding Stony Brook Medicine’s reach through Stony Brook Community Medical and Meeting House Lane clinical practices ensures the healthcare needs of our patients across Long Island are met."
Carol A. Gomes, CEO at Stony Brook University Hospital added: “Congratulations to each team member on their new roles within Stony Brook Medicine."
