Newsday has announced its annual list of the top 100 boys' basketball players for the upcoming winter season. This year, three student-athletes from William Floyd High School have been recognized: seniors Jermaine King, Dahmarion Moses, and Jawuan Smith.

Jermaine King, a 5’9” point guard, has been named to this prestigious list for the third consecutive year. Last season, he averaged 10.8 points and 4.6 assists per game while making 41 three-pointers. He also earned All-League, All-Conference, and All-County honors during his junior year.

Dahmarion Moses, a 6’6” center, is receiving this recognition for the first time in his career. He averaged 8.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game last season and was distinguished with an All-League honor. Coach Will Slinkosky commented on Moses's athleticism and ability to perform above the rim.

Jawuan Smith, a 6’5” forward, is being honored for the second year in a row. He averaged a double-double last season with 14.9 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Coach Slinkosky praised Smith’s mid-range jumper and defensive efforts as a rim protector.

The Colonials are aiming to build on their recent successes which include two consecutive league titles and an appearance in the county championship game last season. They have started strong with two non-league victories over Smithtown East and Bellport.

The team will participate in a tournament at Bay Shore High School this weekend before hosting Walt Whitman for their first home game on Tuesday, December 10 at 4:30 pm.

Congratulations to Jermaine King, Dahmarion Moses, Jawuan Smith, and the entire Colonials team as they embark on another promising season.
