Stony Brook Medicine has been recognized as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals for 2025 by Healthgrades. This accolade places Stony Brook Medicine among the top 1% nationwide for overall care excellence, and it is the only institution on Long Island to achieve this ranking. The assessment covers Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital.

Healthgrades determined the top hospitals by evaluating risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for over 30 conditions and procedures at around 4,500 hospitals nationwide. The analysis highlighted significant performance differences between top- and bottom-performing hospitals.
