On February 14, 2025, Congressman LaLota announced via social media that he had provided an update to News12LI about his efforts to increase the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap. He encouraged viewers to tune in at 10 PM for more information. "Just shared an update with @News12LI on my fight to increase the SALT cap. Tune in at 10 PM tonight to check it out!"

Later that day, Congressman LaLota mentioned an encounter with the Stony Brook University men's lacrosse team at LaGuardia Airport. Both parties were traveling; the congressman was returning from Washington D.C., while the team was en route to a game against the University of North Carolina.
