The William Floyd Colonials boys' varsity basketball team secured a victory in their quarterfinal playoff game against Ward Melville, finishing with a score of 68-47. This win propels the No. 3 seeded Colonials into the semifinals, where they will face No. 2 Bay Shore on March 4 at Longwood High School. The upcoming match is a rematch of last year's Suffolk County Championship game, which saw Bay Shore narrowly defeat William Floyd.

Sharod Sutton led the scoring for the Colonials with 15 points. JJ Smith delivered an impressive performance by achieving a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, along with seven assists. Dahmarion Moses contributed significantly by scoring 14 points and securing eight rebounds, while Jermaine King added another 13 points to the team's total.

Tickets for this round of playoffs are priced at $8.35 each, inclusive of a service fee, while children aged 12 or under can attend for free. Section XI has implemented cashless transactions for ticket purchases.

Earlier in the season, William Floyd High School's team boasted a successful record of 17-3 overall and maintained an undefeated streak in League I play to claim their third consecutive league title.

Congratulations were extended to both student-athletes and coaches on their quarterfinal success as they aim to reach the Suffolk County Championship once again.
