Sir Run Run Shaw was known as an entertainment mogul and philanthropist who led East Asia’s largest movie studio during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1985, his foundation donated HK$1 million to Stony Brook University's College of Arts and Sciences through CN Yang and President Marburger's stewardship. This donation established one of the earliest endowments at Stony Brook Foundation that supports lectures in the college.
Applications are now open for those interested in participating in the upcoming academic year’s series for 2025-26. More information can be found on the Sir Run Run Shaw Lecture Series web page.
