Stony Brook University marked its seventh annual Giving Day, achieving record participation and support. Over a 24-hour period, more than 3,800 individuals, including alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends, contributed to various campus initiatives. This year's donor count saw an increase of over 18 percent compared to the previous year.
In total, over $1 million was raised for 150 programs and funds. Contributions provided crucial resources that enabled students to embrace opportunities, supported impactful research, fostered healthier communities, enriched arts and culture, and contributed to climate progress.
Interim President Richard L. McCormick stated, "Giving Day is a remarkable day of generosity and an opportunity to energize Stony Brook’s unstoppable momentum. Each gift drives innovation and excellence, empowering our students, faculty, and medical professionals to excel and push the boundaries of their potential. Stony Brook is deeply grateful to our generous donors who made this year another record-breaking success."
The Alumni Association of Stony Brook University offered $10,000 for several challenges throughout the day, including a $5,000 award for the project that attracted the highest number of donors. The VIP Hockey Club emerged with 277 donors.
