The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has awarded $1.05 million to Fusheng Wang, a professor in the departments of Biomedical Informatics and Computer Science, and his team. The team includes Richard Rosenthal, MD, a professor and addiction psychiatrist from the Department of Psychiatry. A team of researchers at Stony Brook University is developing a new method to analyze breast cancer imaging using mathematical modeling and deep learning. The project, led by Chao Chen, PhD, Associate Professor, and Prateek Prasanna, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, aims to create more interpretable and robust predictive disease models. Materials scientist Meng Li is a staff scientist in the Electron Microscopy group at the Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN), a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science user facility at DOE’s Brookhaven National Laboratory, which she joined last year. Li splits her time between helping users conduct in situ experiments at CFN’s transmission electron microscopes (TEMs) and conducting her own research. Her research interests include in situ TEM studies of corrosion and catalysis and developing new in situ microscopy instrumentation and experimental tools.
