Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico and Councilman Neil Foley are seeking assistance from residents to identify three males, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, responsible for vandalizing the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Park at Lake Ronkonkoma. The incident occurred on the night of September 2, after 8:00 pm, involving graffiti on a building and spray painting a security camera. The suspects were seen driving a dark-colored sedan of unknown make and model.

Noah Green, 20, of Shirley, has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the second degree, conspiracy in the second degree, and other related charges. The plea follows an incident on October 9, 2022, where Green shot at three individuals in front of former United States Congressman Lee Zeldin’s home. Two victims were struck in the chest but survived.

Scientists at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory have detected the first neutrino interactions using the Short-Baseline Near Detector (SBND). The SBND collaboration, which has been developing the detector for nearly a decade, successfully activated all subsystems after several months of preparation.

Gelber Lopez Perez, 20, of Riverhead, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree. The sentence was announced by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.
