SUFFOLK COUNTY: COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - August 2, 2020, 11 a.m.

Suffolk County issued the following announcement on August 2.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 1, 2020. Last updated July 31, 2020

Total Persons Tested

  • 480,341 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 6,595 tests        
  • 9.0 percent of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 1.1 percent of those tested on Long Island in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19
  • 1.2 percent of those tested in Suffolk County in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19
Tested Positive for COVID-19

  • 43,300 total cases
  • 76 new cases
Antibody Testing

  • 220,993 total tested for antibodies
  • 23,529 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
Fatalities

  • 0 fatalities
  • 1,997 total fatalities
Hospitalization, numbers from July 31

  • 31 individuals were hospitalized, decrease of 3 in 24 hours
  • 12 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 1
  • 7 new admissions
  • 5 discharged
  • 5,619 discharged since March 22
Hospital Capacity

  • 3024 hospital beds, 944 available, 31 percent
  • 391 ICU beds, 157 available, 40 percent
