WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County) released a statement following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress.
“Israel and the United States are nations founded upon religious freedom and deterring conflict, and I am proud to reaffirm my support for Israel’s existence and right to defend itself,” said LaLota. “Nine months ago, Israel was dragged into an existential fight against Hamas terrorists. Now, the world must finally unite forces to confront evil head-on. The grave situation requires the Biden-Harris Administration to stop being so equivocal and demonstrate strength to achieve peace.”
LaLota is a Navy Veteran who served three deployments. He sits on the Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees, advocating for national defense and that of U.S. allies.
This morning, LaLota attended a roundtable with One Israel Fund, which facilitates over 200 unique projects annually in medical, educational, recreational, preventative securities, and other forms of communal welfare.
LaLota voted to pass several bills:
- H.Res. 559 declares it is the policy of the United States that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable.
- H.Res. 599 urges the European Union to designate Hezbollah in its entirety as a terrorist organization.
- H.Res. 798 condemns support for Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education.
- H.R. 340 imposes sanctions on foreign support for terrorist organizations including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
- H.R. 3266 requires annual reports reviewing the curriculum used by the Palestinian Authority.
- H.R. 3774 imposes sanctions on importing or facilitating petroleum products from Iran.
- H.R. 6126 supports Israel in defending itself against Iran and its proxies; reimburses U.S. military operations in response to recent attacks; replenishes defense systems like Iron Dome; supports procurement of advanced weapons systems through Foreign Military Financing Program; enhances production of critical munitions; provides flexibility for transferring defense articles from U.S. stockpiles; prohibits funds to pro-Hamas UNRWA.
