SALT cap debate and union support dominate Nick LaLota's latest statements

Congressman Nick LaLota recently shared thoughts on social media related to taxation, union support, and Medicaid. Serving in the U.S. Congress from New York's 1st district since 2023, LaLota, 44, was born in Bay Shore and currently resides in Amityville.In a post dated April 15, 2025, LaLota called for an increase in the SALT cap for middle-class families, asserting,

"Yes, New Yorkers need Washington Republicans to increase the SALT cap for middle class families." He stated his commitment to achieving this alongside representatives Mike Lawler and Andrew Garbarino by 2025. While advocating for this change, LaLota also critiqued state policies, stating,

"New York Democrats’ worst-in-the-nation tax & spend policies are the root of the problem."On April 16, 2025, LaLota spoke at the 2025 NABTU Conference in Washington D.C., where he noted his engagement with 3,000 skilled tradespeople. He expressed pride in the support from blue-collar unions, asserting,

"Proud to have strong support from blue-collar unions who know I’ll always fight for fair wages, safe conditions, and retirement with dignity."Later the same day, Congressman LaLota made his stance clear on Medicaid protection. He joined other House Republicans in advocating for GOP leadership to maintain Medicaid provisions for vulnerable groups. LaLota communicated his fiscal approach by stating,

"I support smart reforms that cut waste & fraud, strengthen Medicaid. I oppose any bill that puts care at risk."Nick LaLota is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing New York’s 1st district. He replaced previous U.S Congress member Lee Zeldin in 2023.
