The Town of Brookhaven will host its annual Country Fair on September 21 and 22, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the historic Longwood Estate in Ridge. The event will feature historical re-enactments, demonstrations, food, entertainment by the Ed Travers Band, craft vendors, children's activities, a Tesla Museum exhibit, a dog show, a vintage apron show, and house museum tours. Admission is $5 per person with children under 12 admitted free and receiving a "Passport to the Past." Parking is free with a complimentary shuttle service from Longwood Junior High School. Leashed and well-behaved pets are welcome. Longwood Estate is located at the corner of Longwood Road and Smith Road in Ridge. For additional information, contact 631-924-1820.

The Longwood Estate has a rich history dating back before 1817. In 1973, developers Wilbur Breslin and Herbert Carmel acquired the property for commercial and industrial purposes. However, opposition from Brookhaven Town officials and local residents led to Breslin and Carmel donating the manor house and 35 acres of land to the Town of Brookhaven in 1974. The estate has experienced various periods throughout its two-hundred-year history, including a notable Golden Age marked by family life and bustling activity. Today, it serves as a venue for community activities.
