Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig have announced the completion of a significant road paving project in Shirley, New York. The $1.5 million initiative involved resurfacing 21 roads after conducting necessary drainage maintenance and replacing damaged concrete aprons and curbing.

The roads included in this project were Cumberland Street, Essex Circle, Floyd Road, Floyd Road North, Fulton Place, Hampton Avenue, Hawthorne Street, Jefferson Place, Lexington Road North, Madison Street, Main Avenue, Monroe Street, Moriches Avenue, Ormond Place, Ostend Circle, Patchogue Avenue/Northern Boulevard, Reeves Place, Shinnecock Avenue, Somerset Avenue, Southaven Avenue and Van Buren Street.

Superintendent Losquadro emphasized the importance of the preliminary work that was required before paving could begin. "This paving project involved a great deal of drainage upgrades before the resurfacing of the roadways could commence," he stated. He expressed gratitude for including this neighborhood in their 2024 paving season.

Councilwoman Dunne Kesnig reiterated their commitment to improving local infrastructure. “We are committed to improving our roadways and will continue to work with our Highway Department and Superintendent Losquadro to identify the areas of greatest need,” she said. She acknowledged resource limitations but affirmed their dedication to maximizing improvements within those constraints.
