Suffolk County Community College has announced the upcoming exhibition "Drone Beuys: Origins" at the Sagtikos Art Gallery. The exhibit will be open to the public from February 12 to March 28, 2025, at the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood.
The exhibition is a collaboration between artists Nick Bontrager and Adam Fung, who employ modern technology to reflect on the work of Joseph Beuys. It includes video projections, sculptures, and a large inflatable structure designed to engage visitors with themes of myth, creation, and technology.
Visitors can expect to see landscapes inspired by residency projects in Iceland, West Texas, the Caribbean seas, Tasmania, and Italy. The exhibition combines animations and data points that explore both real and imagined worlds. Guests will have the opportunity to interact with these works and contribute to an evolving collaborative origin story.
An opening event for "Drone Beuys: Origins" is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Artists Nick Bontrager and Adam Fung will present their work at 12:30 p.m., followed by a reception offering light refreshments. The event is open to all with free admission.
The gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For further details about the exhibition or gallery information, contact Sagtikos Art Gallery at 631-851-6380.
