The William Floyd Fine Arts & Music departments recently held a celebration to honor the 2025 class of Fine Arts Wall of Distinction honorees. The honorees—Stan Davis, Lucille Maier, Laura Mole, and the late Barbara (Slane) Sapanaro—were recognized for their significant contributions to the fine arts and the lasting impact they have had on the William Floyd community throughout their careers.
During a ceremony at William Floyd High School, which houses the Fine Arts Wall of Distinction, the honorees were acknowledged in front of district representatives, family, and friends. According to Theresa Bianco, Fine Arts chairperson at the William Floyd School District, "The Fine Arts Wall of Distinction is an honor that has become a tradition in our departments." She added, "We have been able to acknowledge former William Floyd artists and musicians who have shared their expertise and love of teaching with the William Floyd community for many years."
The event was further enriched by performances from talented student musicians. The WFHS Chamber Orchestra, led by Diana Brown-Hoppe, provided music as attendees arrived. Notable performances also included WFHS senior clarinetist Jacob White, accompanied by pianist Donia Rivera, and the William Floyd High School Acabellas. Artwork from William Paca Middle School student-artists was also displayed in honor of Lucille Maier, a former art teacher at the school and one of this year's honorees.
Dr. Amy Mason Sckipp, Coordinator of Music, along with Mrs. Bianco and Nancy Slane, Fine Arts Assistant, were instrumental in organizing the celebration.
The honorees have been memorialized on the Fine Arts Wall of Distinction as a token of appreciation for their achievements in art and music.
